We recently ran across an endorsement of my opponent. I am amazed at what special interest groups will say only in effort to further their own agenda. Let’s take a look at the facts…
“The run-off in Ward 3 is between two candidates with careers in real estate development…”
False: Only ONE candidate has a career in Real Estate development - HOSKINS. There is no evidence candidate Bunch has ever submitted any application to the City of Fayetteville for any type of development or construction whatsoever.
“…and long experiences on the Fayetteville Planning Commission.”
True: Candidate Bunch served for 6 years. Hoskins is currently serving his seventh year. Both candidates served as chair for one year.
“The difference comes down to their goals for the community. In the 3-way race last week, we endorsed Ben Harrison for City Council because he would have brought perspective to our council that went beyond property development. The runoff presents a completely different decision between two candidates. We trust Sarah Bunch's vision to encourage development true to Fayetteville, and to still honor Harrison’s principles of equality and social justice.”
Fact: Candidate Hoskins was involved in writing CityPlan 2020 which is now referred to as CityPlan 2030. Hoskins has been an advocate of the growth policies he helped author and was the first developer in Fayetteville to actually design and build a Traditional Neighborhood as described in the CityPlan. Hoskins has a record of not only “encouraging development true to Fayetteville”, but has actually developed projects (www.Oakbrookenwa.com) true to Fayetteville.
“Sarah Bunch's opponent in the runoff has shared resources with and aligned himself on many issues with radical candidates Paul Phaneuf and Tom Terminella.”
False: Complete and utter bull. Hoskins has run his own campaign from the beginning. Hoskins has neither aligned himself nor affiliated himself with any other campaign. There were at least as many of Hoskins’ signs sharing yards with Jordan signs as there were Terminella signs. If other candidates support a business person on the council as opposed to more of the same, they have that right. Hoskins has a lot of support from groups he is not affiliated with.
“Like those candidates, he has repeatedly cherry-picked news articles and used them to spin the false narrative of Fayetteville’s decline.”
False: News articles were not “cherry-picked”. Hoskins has shared articles that demonstrate what a great city Fayetteville is, and other news articles that reflect how Fayetteville’s economic development compares within the context of the rest of NWA. All one has to do is browse through the Tracy K Hoskins campaign Facebook page.
So what’s the summary? These are not people who live in Ward 3. They don’t want a candidate elected with a strong enough voice that will stand up to radicalism. Facts don’t matter to some special interest groups whose typical goal is seating candidates who will further their own agenda. Their primary concern is for themselves – not the residents of Ward 3.
